The Ravens have signed wide receiver T.J. Houshmanzadeh to a one-year contract, worth $855,000 (the NFL’s league minimum for veterans).
Houshmanzadeh used to terrorize Baltimore when he played for Cincinnati. In 13 games as a Bengal vs. the Ravens, Houshmanzadeh made 77 catches for 987 yards and six touchdowns.
According to Jason LaCanfora, Houshmanzadeh was also drawing interest from the Raiders, Rams and Redskins.
The Ravens make this move one week before their season begins. With Donte’ Stallworth out for eight weeks with a broken foot, this move strengthens Baltimore’s passing game, especially in the all-important red zone.
Of course, time will tell if Houshmanzadeh meshes with his new Ravens teammates. However, he may have a grudge against his old team (Cincinnati) and every other team that thought he was finished.
Anquan Boldin, Derrick Mason, T.J. Houshmanzadeh, Todd Heap, Ray Rice, etc.
Didn’t Baltimore used to have Frank Sanders, Marcus Robinson, Ron Johnson, Travis Taylor and Terry Allen?
If anyone still doubts Ozzie Newsome, Eric DeCosta and co., they don’t know football.
