Braylon Edwards was arrested and officially charged as DWI early Tuesday morning.
According to NFL.com, Edwards registered a .16 on his breathalyzer test, which is twice the legal limit in New York.
The NFL and the Jets are waiting to take any action based on their investigations of the case.
Edwards was pulled over at 5:15 a.m. this morning.
He was drunk and driving around at 5:15 in the morning…why? I know players in the NFL have Tuesdays off, but come on, call a cab or something.
Edwards was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct (taunting) after catching a touchdown in the Jets’ 28-14 win over the Patriots on Sunday. Obviously, he thinks he is safe and can do what he wants.
This news comes a day after Jets star CB Darrelle Revis said he was out for 1-2 weeks with a pulled hamstring.
The Jets’ next game is Sunday, when they travel to divisional-rival Miami. The Dolphins are 2-0, and like the Ravens, have a smothering defense. If Sanchez had trouble against a smothering defense at home with Edwards, how will he do on the road (potentially) without Edwards?
Not to mention potentially having to play catch-up since the Dolphins may throw to Brandon Marshall all day due to Revis’ absence.
In any event, what was a running football team with limited passing abilities became more limited in their passing game.
If Mark Sanchez was looking to prove his legitimacy as a NFL QB this year, here is his chance to make that statement.
